Welcome Welcome to Room K1 for the 2008 ~ 2009 school year. I hope that it is filled with learning, laughter and lots of memories. I am excited to be teaching the multiage class again this year. I am eager to hear about all the returning studentsą adventures over the summer. I am also looking forward to getting to know all the new students and their families. I am sure that this year will be an engaging one. This handbook was created to help you understand some of the activities, routines and norms that are a part of our classroom community. While I have tried to be as complete as possible there will no doubt be additions, deletions and corrections throughout the year. Also, if you have any questions at all donąt hesitate to make contact with me at your earliest convenience. My contact information is located on the cover of this handbook. I would like to share a little information about me. This is my 19th year of teaching and my 9th year at Point Dume Marine Science School. I am married to Stacy Harris, a second grade teacher at Webster Elementary School. I have two children, Maya, 8 (a third-grader at Webster) and Devin 6 (a first grader at Webster). I grew up in Malibu and graduated from the Santa Monica Alternative School House (SMASH). I earned my teaching credential from UCSD and my M.A. and administrative credential from CSUN. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher. My interests outside of school include cooking, computers, sports, woodworking and my family. Please take a few minutes to look through the handbook and then put it in a safe place so you can reference it throughout the year. You can also find an online version on our class webpage. Thanks and again welcome to Room K1. Ken |
